Our Mission
The EFC is building a cooperative and resilient regional food system in the eastern United States.
A Collaborative Vision
We believe that food hubs can become the backbone of a thriving, regenerative regional food economy. Our shared vision for the EFC is a practitioner-led collective that enables food hubs to adopt bold, innovative approaches to radical collaboration and systems change.
We envision a new food system that doesn’t rely on corporate consolidation, systemic inequality, exploitation, or environmental degradation. By linking independent, place-based solutions together into an interdependent collaborative, we are creating an organism far greater than the sum of its parts; and putting it to work in service of a livable planet, inclusive economies, and nourished communities for generations to come.

“Sometimes what we do can feel very isolating. Every time we come to a meeting and speak with other EFC members who are doing similar work in other parts of the country, it's such a great reminder that we're not alone in our mission, and there are resources available if we need support. The connection of EFC is invaluable.”
